This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are second language learners who struggle with vocabulary development and reading comprehension. This affects their success in all academic areas and is evident in their test performance. As second language learners they need visuals and graphics incorporated into instruction to enhancing their learning.

Typically our classroom activities involve reading, writing, using academic language, listening and speaking.

I am in need of some assistance in upgrading the quality of items in my classroom to engage my students and present meaningful lessons.

My Project

I need to be able integrate the newest tools and help my students prepare for their future in a digital world. This laptop will allow me to provide my students with access to digital resources and content that make learning more engaging and fun. It will assist in providing small group instruction for those students who still need the additional support to achieve success. Students will be able to use Newsela and Read theory to increase their reading comprehension. They will also be able to use the Mac Book to view lesson presentations at their own pace. It will also be used for lesson planning, parent/student communication, creating and presenting content in the classroom, maintaining grades online. Finally it will be used for data collection, to place students into groups according to their ability and for my ongoing professional development.
