This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our Promethean Board (the Beast) is the central focus in the classroom. The classroom rug is directly in front of the Beast for optimal viewing and access. The students come to the carpet at the beginning of every lesson, discussion, guided practice, and fun. The Promethean Board is the tool I use to model and demonstrate teaching points, as well as where students show and share their work. The problem is that Beast needs a powerful computer. Unfortunately, my desktop is too old, not fast enough, and too far away to plug into this effective tool, the Beast.
We need a Mac Mini to connect to the Promethean Board that can be tucked behind the Beast to facilitate our learning and avoid dangerous computer cables crisscrossing the classroom.
By donating to the Mac Mini, you will not only allow us to utilize the Beast to its maximum potential, but you will also increase student attention and focus, and, ultimately help to increase their academic achievement. Students will be able to focus on instruction and not worry if they are going to trip on a clunky wire, or if the Promethean Board is going to work with the old, slow computer. Plus in this technology-literate world, interaction with this updated technology of Mac Mini and the Promethean Board (Beast) will increase their literacy as well as their desire to learn.
