This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are fighters. They have had all the odds against them and yet they are persistent and continue coming to school to get that high school diploma. I work in a continuation high school and I always come across erroneous stereotypes about my students and the one thing that I want people to know is that these kids didn't end up here because they are lazy. They are there because they are determined to succeed in life and many have issues that we only hear about in the news.
My Project
Technology is indispensable when it comes to getting a college education. Many of my students don't have technology at home and that has become more visible during these difficult times when technology has become a must for education. I am requesting a MacBook Pro for one of my graduating students who does not have adequate technology for their continuing education. I have had students tell me that they will not be going to community college right away because they don't have computers and will have to get a job and work to buy one before they can go off to college. By getting them this technology I hope to relieve some of their burden.
