I love my school and my students! My students come from a wide range of socioeconomic and racial backgrounds and have interests as varied as the colors of the rainbow. Many of my students are bilingual.
Each day in my sixth grade classroom, we learn from each other and grow while having fun.
Students learn to amplify their strengths and find strategies to help themselves overcome and work through their struggles. By the end of our time together, my students are good at advocating for themselves and their learning needs and I am better at knowing how to reach and teach my students in authentic and meaningful ways.
My Project
My students are in need of a classroom rug for use during our full class mini lessons in literacy. Right now, students "come close" to increase their focus and remove distractions, but end up sitting on the cold uncomfortable tile floor.
The rug will also provide a place where students can cozy up with a good book, sit with their partner during peer-editing, or meet with their groups during book club.
This large rug will allow students to focus better on the lesson at hand, and less on their discomfort. It will also give them some flexibility in where they want to do their work.
