My Students
My students represent the best of the best we could hope for our future. They are bright, creative, confident and compassionate. They come from families rich in culture and strong in values, creating an environment of love both in my school building and in their local community. Every day at school is a day where we all come together to grow and develop as better humans together.
As their teacher, I foster their strengths, support their needs, and prepare them for global citizenship.
I can identify their talents and abilities, but it is dramatically more powerful when they come to see their own strength on their own. In an effort to support this self-exploration and independence, I aim to create a learning environment that fosters strategic thinking and problem solving skills.
My Project
In my classroom, we have a library area that houses all of our leveled books, as well as high-interest picture books. But after many years of DonorsChoose projects and community generosity, our library is bursting at the seams!
I would like to enhance our reading area in order to make sure all these new, amazing books are used by adding some soft, flexible seating and an area rug.
In my 100+ year old building, the linoleum floor isn't a comfortable place to snuggle up with a favorite book.
And because our classroom library is extensive, I would like to add another bookshelf where students can independently access their materials. We are all about responsibility in my classroom, and with this self, everything would have a place!
