Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In my school, many of our students come from low-income households, with a large portion of our families identifying as Hispanic and Brazilian. Our community is rich in culture, language, and resilience, but many families face financial challenges that can make meeting daily needs—like providing a lunch—difficult at times.

Having extra lunch boxes available in the classroom ensures that no student goes without a meal due to circumstances beyond their control.

Some students arrive without lunch because of housing instability, food insecurity, or unexpected family hardships. Others may forget their lunch, but replacing it is not always an option for their families. When this happens, students can feel embarrassed, anxious, or distracted—making it harder for them to focus on learning.

By keeping lunch boxes on hand, I can discreetly provide students with a complete meal in a way that preserves their dignity and allows them to remain focused, comfortable, and ready to learn. These lunch boxes will serve as an immediate, compassionate solution that supports students’ physical well-being while also promoting emotional safety and inclusion.

This project is about more than food—it’s about equity. When students’ basic needs are met, they are better able to engage academically, build positive relationships, and fully participate in the school day. Your support will help ensure that every child in my classroom feels cared for, respected, and ready to succeed.
