My students are resilient, eager to learn and excited about returning to school in person full-time this year! I work with about 600 students in pre-K through 5th grade, ages range from 4 to 11. They are from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds and some have special needs.
My Project
Research in multiple studies has shown that bringing students outside to learn results in an increase in learning retention as well as enthusiasm for learning and a decrease in stress. Eating lunch outside with friends improves mood and concentration as well as being safer during the Covid-19 pandemic than eating in a cafeteria or classroom.
This project will provide 15 picnic tables for our beautiful courtyard located at the center of our building so that our teachers can bring students outside for lunch and small groups for reading and math.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
