This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are diverse, some coming from Mexico, Central America, and Bangladesh. They are eager to share their culture and learn about other cultures and traditions. I signed up for Panda Express' “Let’s Explore!: Lunar New Year” curriculum and can't wait for my students to learn about how the Lunar New Year celebration is the same and/or different than their New Year celebrations.
Celebrating Lunar New Year will help my students build respect for other cultures around the world.
This year, we will learn about and celebrate the Year of the Snake. We will complete a variety of crafts that will require red and yellow paper. They will learn about the significance of the color red, the red envelopes and the gold coins.
All of these hands-on learning experiences will make a difference in my students' learning because it will promote an understanding of diverse traditions and allow my students to appreciate the importance of family and community within different cultures.
