This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
February is always an exciting month in first grade! I love this time of year because I get to teach my first graders about Lunar New Year. For most, it's the first time they will learn of its significance.
We will learn that the Lunar New Year is a celebration of the arrival of spring and the beginning of a new year on the lunar calendar.
We will also learn the significance of the red envelopes. Students will partner with a friend and exchange well wishes, gold play coins, and chocolate coins in red envelopes. The red and yellow construction paper will be used to make paper lanterns together as a class.
Since the 100th Day of School is happening the same week, we'll also decorate crowns, glasses, and t-shirts with 100 things using puffy paint as a way to celebrate such an exciting school milestone. We are already counting down the days until we get to 100!
February will be a month full of fun! Thank you for supporting my students and their education.
