Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My 2nd grade students love to share stories about their families and ethnicities. They are very proud to share their heritage on special days throughout the school year and enjoy hearing personal stories about my family.

Celebrating different cultures is being culturally responsive in today's classroom!

Lunar New Year has been celebrated in my classroom for many years, and having read aloud books to better explain the tradition is important. The lanterns and hanging tassels will create a festive happy atmosphere for my students. Decorative fans will allow my students to keep cool while they're celebrating and the red envelopes will be used for good luck coins.

Origami is a skill that requires repetition and lots of practice. Origami making books will allow my students to learn how to make many different origamis by giving easy step by step directions. Multiple colored sheets of origami paper will let the students be creative in deciding what color or pattern their origami is.

Lunar New Year stickers will bring smiles to everyone's faces! A fun game of bingo will end our day of celebration with the winner ringing the gong!
