Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I teach in an urban, low-income district where students need dedicated teachers who respect children and youth; who actually believe they can and will learn if properly taught; and who understand the types of homes and cultures from which the children come. Unfortunately, this has been a difficult task for me lately. I have been having problem after problem with my outdated chromebook.

My Project

In this new world of virtual learning, engaging students is a challenge every day. For my special needs math students, it is even more of a challenge. They are funny and warm. I miss them so much, and it is frustrating to not be able to help them fully. I do not want them to fall behind.

The laptop requested will empower the students to have positive attitudes toward math concepts, and that it is what I am trying to display.

I hear each day from students "I do not like Math and I will not need it later in life". I want to show them a new and better way to enjoy math concepts. Help me give my students a better online learning experience with a laptop that will allow me to zoom and create fun activities and move faster, so my students can understand what I am trying to get across in a more efficient manner.
