This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are a Title I school in an inner city. Ninety-four percent of our students are eligible for free lunch and breakfast. We are proud of what we can do, and our music program is one of the best in our district!

No matter what, we know that we as a band are a family.

We know that we have each other's backs, and when we are upset, frustrated, or need a listening ear, we can go the band room and collect ourselves. Music for many of us is our outlet and happy place.

My Project

I am asking for reeds for our bassoon, our tenor saxophones, and our bari sax players. These reeds are expensive, and often my students cannot afford to purchase reeds for these instruments on their own. Having these reeds provided by me will take some of the pressure off of my students. I am also asking for a mouthpiece for our contra alto clarinet. We had one, which was unfortunately broken in an accident.

Being able to help my students create music is the reason that I do what I do.

Having reeds and a clarinet mouthpiece for my students will help to start our year off right. Thank you in advance for your help!!
