Help me give my students a washer and dryer set for our school. This will allow us to wash their nap items, clothes if they have an accident, and classroom tools daily.
I am a teacher of students who live in low income, single-parent family homes, and where my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.
The students in my classroom are students with learning and emotional disabilities.
They like to move, they love to read and love lots of positive attention. Many are students with a range of disabilities, emotional disturbance and specific learning disability. These things may prevent them from getting ahead early in life and may deprive them of life experiences many of us see as "typical".
From the minute they walk in the door of my classroom, I focus on their potential and growth while they are with me. I may not be able to control their home lives, however, I can certainly control their experience during the school day. By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hopeful to inspire even our earliest learners to continue on a path of academic excellence.
My Project
Our school serves students of a variety of ages throughout the school year. There are unforeseen circumstances each school day where we find ourselves in need of a washer and dryer on school property. We have even had teachers and staff take items and personally launder them to help their students and their families.
We are requesting a Maytag washer and dryer which would provide us with resources to assist our students and families along the way when such a tool would offer a fresh way to solve the problem or challenge at hand.
Access to these appliances would give us additional options within arm's reach throughout the day.
Your investment in our project could give the teachers and their students the gift of having the peace of mind of knowing quick, sanitary solutions within the hours of a school day are available without any additional embarrassment or worry.
