Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I want all of my students to be life long learners. I want them to think for themselves; to be independent learners and critical readers.
I work hard to foster a passion for learning in my students and to create a safe learning environment where they will be able to grow and progress.
My students are bright, curious, and eager to learn. Our school provides free breakfast and lunch to all students. The parents of my students are hard workers and want the best for their children. Many of them work long hours trying to provide for their families. I have a wide range academic abilities in my class. My goal is to meet each child where they are and to help them grow and develop as a student.
My Project
I am requesting class sets of some of the best children's books that are on grade level for second grade. These wonderful stories will foster a love of reading that I hope will stay with my students for their entire lives. As a class we will experience these great books together and grow as readers. As an added bonus these books are correctly leveled so that as the year progresses they will be reading more difficult books throughout the year. I have also requested single copies of some of the other books in the series so that if a child loves the book we read as a class they are able to continue with the series.
