My Students

I am special education teacher in Chicago Public Schools. My students are in 3rd-5th grades. My students have varying levels of ability and varying disabilities. My students are enthusiastic, inquisitive, and kind. I work with students who are struggling readers and work very hard throughout the school year to improve their reading. I want to instill in my students a love of learning and a love of reading which is why I am asking for a set of guided reading books. With engaging books and newer content, I believe my students will be motivated to read more often and develop a love for reading.

My Project

The leveled books will be used every day in my classroom either through guided reading lessons or when my students are reading independently. My students practice their reading everyday, but I know that they would like to have newer books and more chooses available to them.

Loving to read can open so many doors and provide so many opportunities to my students.

Many of my students have expressed that they do not like to read and that they think they are "bad" at it. With more books at my students' independent reading levels, they will develop that confidence. By providing my students with updated materials and more engaging content, I believe my students will be more motivated to practice their reading daily.
