My students are energetic six and seven-year-olds whose brains are like sponges! They are enthusiastic and excited to learn new things! The majority of my students are visual, hands-on learners. I'm also excited that my first-grade classroom pairs with our first-grade hearing impaired students for inclusion opportunities.
School is a safe and happy place for my students where they remind me if I skip giving them a morning hug or high five!
Each day they come into the classroom excited about the day, and spend time exploring and learning together! I always have high expectations that each of my students will grow and learn. For many of my students, being at school is the best part of their day! I truly believe in each one of them and am determined to give them the help they need to be successful.
My Project
As my students grow in their technological ability, their enthusiasm is also growing. We are in need of expanding our technology so that more students are able to use iPads and tablets to access appropriate games and sites that will support their learning in Literacy, Math, and Science. We currently have 2 iPads that are compatible with our OSMO technology. Having this tablet for our center times will free up the iPads we have for the OSMO stations. This tablet will be of use for any student to build their enthusiasm and technological fluency.

The CD Listening center is to replace one that recently broke in my classroom! We use this every day as part of our center time! It is a favorite addition to our center times.
There are amazing applications for the tablet that will allow them to record their work as well so I can "be there" as well as share it with parents. Learning examples on a tablet include (but not limited): -Kidblog: students can write, record, edit, and title their own writing -QR Codes: barcodes scanned by students will open up specific videos like sight word reading, poetry, monarch butterflies, math rapping, etc. -Videos/ Pictures: students can share published art, writing, and create projects through Class Dojo -Math: practice math skills, number formation, and problem-solving at level -Reading: apps such as Epic and Teach Your Monster to Read that allow students to read text to themselves or follow along as they are being read to… The possibilities are endless!
