This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
In third grade, my students are now able to read and are eager to tear through the pages of their books. Calls of "Ms. Turner, can I read now?" and "Puedo leer mi libro ahora" echo across our Dual Language classroom throughout the day and bring a smile to my face. "Me encanta este libro!" and "This is my favorite series!" are joyful comments that show me how engaged students are in their books. Nothing brings me more joy than students who love to read as much as I do.
I love to provide students with as much time to read as we can squeeze in to our school day, but I hope to provide them a more comfortable space in which to read to get them out of their desks.
The rug in our library is too small and we do not have enough flexible seating options for our energetic little bodies. This project will provide a cozy corner away from students' desks where they can sit comfortably and get lost in our diverse book collection.
