My students are inner-city, high-poverty children who are embarking on their journey as Montessori learners in Indianapolis Public Schools.
Students bring their rich cultural backgrounds to school, as well as a variety of languages to share the wealth of knowledge they already attain. I share in the joys of growing their expertise in the many fields of mathematics, language arts, cultural studies.
At school, I work to ensure that my student's educational needs are met, but I can't do it without the help of the community supporting our next leaders, innovators, and thinkers. Montessori's philosophy is that children learn best through their innate drive to learn new things, and we provide this with hands-on materials and the cosmic approach.
My Project
Help me give students materials to use in the classroom to engage them in the love of literacy. It is vital that students are engaged in the work they do, therefore they develop a deeper understanding.
Students will be able to have fun and learn by using the different materials to engage them in learning!
Students will love being able to practice their sight words by using sand. They will use the rhyming houses to work together and understand rhyming words. The alphabet puzzle is a hands on activity that students can use who are working on letter/ sound recognition. The early comprehension cards will be used by students to build and sustain their comprehension skills.
They will use all materials in the classroom to deepen their understanding of literacy! Thank you for donating to my project!
