My Students
My kindergartners are a group of enthusiastic learners who love to use technology. My students live in the neighborhood of our School and come from many diverse backgrounds. Most of my students' main source of using technology is here at school. Technology gets them going and so excited about what they're learning. My students' abilities range from practicing letters, sounds, and reading words. What better way to have them sharpen their skills? There are so many literacy skills that can be practiced online and my students love, love, love using technology to enhance their skills. They think they're playing games when they are actually focusing on very specific skills that I will be able to assign to them. My kids would really enjoy an opportunity to gain their foundational skills in a fun and entertaining way at school!
My Project
The use of technology grabs the attention of my students almost instantly. Learning to read and creating a foundation for learning early on is so important. Having these laptops and headsets in the classroom will allow my students to master literacy skills in an exciting way. This technology will allow me to reach all of my diverse learners in a way that meets them exactly where they are. Students will be able to track their own learning and pick up where they left off. There are so many programs that I can expose my kindergartners to that will reinforce the skills I teach in class.

My kindergartners are becoming phonemically aware by hearing sounds that letters make, learning how to blend and decode unfamiliar words, and read sight words. With these laptops, they will be able to practice these skills by interacting with the screens and getting the practice on the skills learned from week to week.
