This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My school serves a community with a growing number of Spanish-speaking families and bilingual learners. However, our current collection of Spanish-language books is limited and does not reflect the cultural richness or linguistic needs of our students. Access to books in their native language fosters a deeper connection to reading, supports language development, and encourages family literacy, especially among young readers.
By expanding our school library's Spanish collection, I aim to create a more inclusive, welcoming space where all readers can see themselves represented and find materials that support their educational growth, social-emotional learning, and cultural identities.
The books that have been selected span across age and reading levels, from kindergarten to 8th grade. A variety of genres are included, with a mix of fiction and nonfiction being represented. We thank you for your support in providing high-quality, age-appropriate books in Spanish that will inspire a lifelong love of reading.
