Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
This upcoming year, I will have the pleasure of working with two groups of students; second graders and third graders. Each student having a significant disability; educational, physical, emotional and attention difficulties. They are so young and impressionable, so full of energy and so excited for a new school year.
I want each of these students to develop a long lasting love of reading and learning. I want for each of them to be able to have books to read at all times through via a classroom library.
My Project
Having a classroom library available to the students in my classroom, will allow them to develop a love for reading and for learning. They will have a chance to earn more points on a school-wide Accelerated Reader program and earn incentives to keep reading by having these books inthe classroom. The books have to be at a variety of levels, for each of their individual reading levels. Books are so important to children, especially when you want them to love something so much and see their growth.
Quick and easy access to books, provides students an opportunity to always read and increase their desire to read. Despite all of their struggles, I want them to have access to books they are able to read and have goals to read more advanced books.
