Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Be kind is my number one rule. I want to create an environment that fosters a love of learning through reading. We spend our days soaking in the words of great authors like Roald Dahl, Beverly Cleary and Kate Di Camillo. My students are held captive by words and pictures.
My students are amazing.
Most come from high poverty and have significant struggles. They come to school every day ready to learn. They are enthusiastic about life and are eager to see what each day will bring. My students work hard. Our school provides a safe place for these children to set life long goals, grow socially, academically and emotionally.
My Project
Our students have a limited supply of books and many have been used over and over and are beginning to fall apart. We will use these new books to provide the students with books that meet their needs at their level. These literature circles will allow students a window into another time and place.
My student will continue to develop a love of reading.
This love of reading goes hand and hand with a love of learning. It will allow my students to become life long learners and expose them to books they would otherwise not be able to access.
