Love to Read: Help Close Our Reading Gap With Books!
Help me give my students chapter books for reading interventions. This year my students need physical books to close their reading gap deficits due to online learning last year.
My students are at very different levels after experiencing online learning last year. A good majority of my students are very behind in reading and math skills, some even still at a kindergarten level. My goal this year is to close the gap for all my struggling students while still giving those students who are at bench mark and above a full years worth of growth. With your help I can achieve this.
My Project
Due to online learning last year, most of my students did not receive reading instruction using physical books. I would like to purchase books that will be used in small group instruction to close reading gaps and give students a full year (or more) of reading skills. Let's instill the love of reading back into our students who have had little to no time with materials other then online programs. In small reading groups students will read together and use reading strategies to further their readings skills. These books will allow students to read the same material to have meaningful discussions about what they are reading. These books will also help with social-emotional needs with students working together to collaborate on ideas and strategies to use with reading. Thank you for helping me create a library of fine literature to help them love reading and grow in their abilities to comprehend and learn from these books.
