"There is no such thing as a child who hates to read; there are only children who have not found the right book." -Frank Serafini.
A typical day in my classroom starts with Readers' Workshop, where students practice skills and strategies by reading independently, with partners, and in groups.
My 17 second graders are avid readers who love choosing books based on their reading levels and interests.
I have a wide range of reading abilities and interests in class. My students are full of curiosity and energy. They love reading new books, exploring different genres, and sharing what they've read with each other.
My Project
We spend all year in second grade growing as readers. Adding new books to our classroom library will provide my students with more options and opportunities to grow. These books will allow my students to explore texts they are interested in and are able to read on their own.
Donations to this project will improve our classroom by providing students with a wide variety of texts.
My students will learn the habits of good readers, take ownership of their growth as readers, follow their own ambitions and interests, and share that excitement with other students.
