My Project

My students are still being impacted by COVID-19, for many of my students this is only their second full year of being in-person for learning. For many of my students being able to read books is a new experience for them. They are loving being able to read a real book instead of an electronic version of their stories.

As an educator, I want my students to have a love of reading and I feel that by giving them the opportunity to read an assortment of books (which falls within their interest) it will instill the love of reading.

Many students during Covid-19, either lost their love of reading or never really found it during the pandemic. I've noticed this year that when students have the opportunity to read books, it triggers more creativity in them and their imagination just soars. I have found that the best way to lead students back to reading is to start with graphic novels and books that are at their level and will keep their interest. My students get so excited when we go to the library and they are able to choose any of book. I noticed, many of my students are drawn to graphic novels. So to keep the excitement of reading in my classroom, I chose an assortment of graphic novels and chapter books to help the students to be excited to read.
