Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Each year, my school hosts a Love of Reading event where we give away free books to the community. This year, I had 30 Rupi Kaur books, from another DonorsChoose project, and they were gone before we even finished organizing and putting the books out. They flew off the shelves. I was shocked! Normally students are scared of poetry; they don't want to write it and they don't want to read it.
But Rupi Kaur's books are different.
They are so powerful and the kids are drawn to her words. I would love to be able to give all of the students a copy of one of her books.
