This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My 2nd grade classroom is full of students from diverse backgrounds both culturally and economically. In my classroom, we focus on learning kindness, risk-taking, and independence. I believe my role is to assist each child in developing their own potential and learning style. I believe that students learn best through hands-on experiences. Thus, I try my best to provide my students with resources that incorporate each different learning style while also making the content relevant to the students' lives. As well as incorporating hands-on learning, cooperative learning, projects, themes, and individual work that engage and activate students learning.
My Project
The books will help with the development of English language arts standards for reading literature. Students will be able read the books and answer key ideas and details about the story, CCSS ELA RL.2.1, RL.2.2, RL 2.2. Thus, the reading sets will help with remediation of literacy skills and help build reading fluency and comprehension, CCSS ELA RF.2.4. The English language arts can games will serve as a resource to help with remediation and to solidify 2nd grade ELA concepts in a hands on manner that allows students to learn through play.
