My Project

I want to continue building my classroom where history is energetic and matters to students. I have asked for literature and supplies that support diversity in content and allow students to select a book in the format they most enjoy. I have added graphic novels, historical fiction, primary source literature, autobiographies, and much more to support student learning and a love for reading. I have always told my students that if they want to be a better writer and a more compassionate person, they need to read more.

My ultimate goal is to have students fall in love with reading history again.

My young daughter gets so excited when she reads books such as the "I Survived" series and graphic novels. At one point, I knew most of my high school students did, too. I have also picked books that support diversity in the student population and fit into my Modern US History, AP Government, and future UConn ECE Human Rights courses. Diverse resources help students connect, and reading good books can help people heal or learn more coping mechanisms.

Finally, I have selected some tools to support projects and learning involving creativity and problem-solving. Having readily available tools helps inspire students' creative processes and core learning.
