Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have a huge group of awesome students who are willing to learn and do what it takes to succeed. My group consists of kids with dyslexia, Special Education, bilingual, challenging behaviors, Gifted and Talented, and English learners. I love that everyone is different in their own ways and come in very early in the morning to be in my classroom. At the end of the day I have to hurry them up so they can go home because if it was up to them, they would stay in my class. Everyday as we are walking in the hallway, they are asking me what it is that I will be teaching them.
My students are always excited and are always looking for new things to accomplish.
It is because of my students, that I am in this profession.
My Project
I am asking for a set of Big Nate books and a set of Bad Kitty books. My students will benefit from these books in our classroom because it can help them improve vocabulary and fluency.
My students need to bring exposed to as much reading as possible and these books will help them with their comprehension as well as a variety of other reading skills.
Big Nate books have many illustrations which can in a way facilitate the reading for the students who need contextual clues. The Bad Kitty books are some of the books that my girls enjoy reading. I plan to allow my students choose books they want to read so that they can develop the love for reading without feeling pressured to reading what I choose.
