My students need leveled readers to allow independent reading. My students also need sit spots to help give personal space while meeting as a whole class.
My class consists of 21 students, of all different cultures. I have a mix of general education students and students with disabilities. We have a strong, supportive school community and by working together we provide a meaningful, rigorous, and engaging education for all of our learners.
My students come to school with high motivation to learn and do their best every day!
My students always work towards their highest potential! My students all have a love for reading and are excited to read new books every day at school!
My Project
There is no "one size fits all" for students. Students are at different reading levels and have different learning needs. While all in 1st grade, beginning, emergent, and fluent readers need books at their levels and interest to learn to read and to learn to love reading! These books are leveled and diverse, which will expand the classroom library and differentiate for the different reading levels.The sit spots will help keep us organized and give us personal space while in our meeting area. We love learning as a whole class, but with limited space, we cannot have a carpet in our classroom. Sit spots will give us the chance to meet together and have a spot for everyone!
So, whether the students are practicing their basic sounds or learning about their character's traits, there is a book that will fit the interest of the students to push them to become more and more fluent readers.
With a variety of leveled readers in our classroom, all students will have the opportunity to read with independence during Daily 5 rotations. With Sit Spots, everyone will have their own personal space in our meeting area.
