This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have the privilege of working with the most amazing and hard working English Learning students. Although my students may have the disadvantages of living in a low socioeconomic community while struggling with a language barrier, they are eager learners and passionate about furthering their education.
With adequate resources and tools (which at times are lacking in inner city schools), my students will be given the opportunity to excel academically and achieve success, thus ending the cycle of poverty in their families.
My Project
The language arts materials requested will enable my students to find joy in reading. For instance, the set of books(Because of Winn- Dixie) and teacher guide will help me target the needs of more advanced learners by providing challenging yet interesting literature. Small group instruction helps to differentiate and target students' specific needs.
The reader's theater resource will make literature come alive by improving students' reading fluency while providing fun and purposeful practice of theater scripts in American History.
Furthermore, the grammar practice cards will help improve vocabulary and grammar skills which is essential for my English language learning students.
