This group of students is very diverse. They are intelligent but present with social, emotional and sensory difficulties. They need help from their teachers so that they can learn to balance their desire for order and perfection with an appreciation for surprises and mistakes. They need guidance to self-regulate, explore, and be independent. Our learning centers will provide opportunities for these students to explore and work independently along with gaining skills for working with partners and small groups.

My Project
I am looking to create a writing and literacy station for an independent partner and small group work. Many of my students find writing to be an intimidating and daunting task. My hope is to attract them to this center by creating an organized and colorful environment full of fun and challenging activities. Many of my students also struggle with comprehension. Reading comprehension activities will encourage my students to recall and analyze whats been read and have fun in the process! Disguised learning!
You can make anything by writing.
C.S. Lewis. The colorful bins are needed to pique interest and attract students to the activities inside. They allow students to work independently in that they are easy to manage and will contain all the needed materials for the task inside. They will also be color coded to further assist with the organization of scaffolded and differentiated tasks. The comprehension center and language kits will be a wonderful way to begin stocking this center will fun, useful, and challenging activities for students to enjoy from the very start of the school year.
My favorite, the writing process folders, will help students organize their writing and provide explanations and tips to assist them as they go!
