Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are dreamers, thinkers, talkers, and questioners. They are mathematicians, writers, readers, scientists, entrepreneurs, and teachers.
They are our future and I want to give them a great start to their lifelong education.
Many of the students in my school are being raised in low-income households and receive a free daily breakfast and lunch. With limited school supplies, it's difficult to teach fun and creatively. Despite these setbacks, I am hoping to inspire my students so that they continue on a path of academia and constant learning.
My Project
My students need books for literacy centers that will keep them engaged during the entire literacy block. I am also requesting storage bins to store the word work and phonics literacy centers. This will make it more organized and easily accessible.
Likable and inviting literacy centers will allow for my students to be independent and successful as I lead my guided reading groups.
My students have come to love Elephant and Piggie books, which is why I am requesting a bundle of the series. Our library is short of nonfiction books, so I am also hoping we can add some National Geographic books to our collection. The multicultural crayons are for students to color the people they may draw in their stories during the reading response center. The magnets are to hang pocket charts on the white board to practice ABC work.
