This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

"As many an architect will tell you, human behavior changes according to the environment." Our school community has been through a lot in the last few years. In addition to the challenges faced during the pandemic, we have been going through a campus modernization project for the last 4 years. As a result, our students and staff face the daily stresses of construction noise and dust pollution during the school day. In addition, our common meeting spaces have been leveled to make room for new builds, so there has been no designated to de-stress and break away from the pollution that we face daily. Through it all though, what makes our school community so special is their resilience and determination. Despite facing challenges, they are determined to “make it work.” However, working under these types of conditions certainly takes a toll on the overall wellbeing of all who call this campus home, so we want to create an oasis where our school community members can find a renewed sense of wellbeing and community.

The items such as recliner chair, rug, and floor lamps requested for our wellness lounge will significantly enhance our students' learning experience by creating a shared space for relaxation and social interaction.

This will encourage school community members to connect with one another, build relationships, and develop a sense of belonging. This can lead to increased motivation, engagement, and academic success.

Our goals for this wellness lounge project are to improve the overall wellbeing of our school community. This wellness lounge will create a space where school community members feel valued and cared for, and when this happens, the sky is the limit!
