This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school is a special place because it is one of the most diverse schools in our district. Our school mission revolves around accepting diversity! We have used sports to connect our students and have committed to being a healthy campus. In recent weeks, we have been challenged as a school and community, due to the catastrophic flooding from Hurricane Harvey. Located in West Houston, next to the Buffalo Bayou, we lost massive amounts of equipment.

We are now in a scramble to find equipment that intrigues kids to stay healthy!

Accommodating our large number of students has become even more of an untouchable situation because of our resources lost due to damage. Houston Independent School District was so greatly damaged that they have run out of available learning resources.

Through this life-changing event, we have stuck together and managed to create a limited learning environment, but need the community's help! We need to replace our weight and training equipment to provide these less fortunate students a diverse way to stay healthy. These resources will prevent our students from going down the wrong path and help towards living healthy!

My Project

Throughout the past school year, we have struggled with our sound system. These struggles have lead to hard times communicating the curriculum to the students. Having such large amounts of students in the gym, we have been looking for a way to get more of a clear voice across the gym. I'm hoping that the additions of portable microphones to our sound system, and portable sound systems will help in these issues. I believe that having these resources will allow the daily routine to be more proactive towards the students development. I can't wait to give them this easier opportunity to learn.
