This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
This is a bright and active group of five- and six-year-old children. They love to create and tell stories. They love to read and be read to. They are quickly learning to work together which is a vital skill in our world. My children work in small groups and independently throughout the day.
We grow in all areas by practicing and playing together.
Writing throughout the day in science, social studies, math, and even in art helps us in so many ways. We get noisy, but we learn so much together. We need supplies to grow as readers, writers, and illustrators. We need to show the colors of our ideas. There is so much to learn.
My Project
These beginning readers practice the most basic sight words with strong picture support for new readers. As kindergarteners, my students need this practice. The format of these books will make it easy for my parents to support their students as they grow. These fictional sight word readers include awesome pictures to focus my students on the text.
I am including the dot stampers to practice building of the letters and the sight words we need to master.
The children who are struggling the most need a fun way to increase their skills. With appropriate sheets, they will be able to dot out the letters that create the sight words which are the basis of most adult reading.
