This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am a first-year teacher and I teach 22 of the most magnificent second graders. They are very energetic and love to learn. When they do their work, they often don't have anywhere to put their completed work besides on their desk. This results sometimes losing their quality work that they are so proud of, leading to their parents not being able to see it. Getting this mailbox will give my students a place to store their completed work till the end of the day!
My Project
Getting a mailbox in the classroom would help benefit my students in many ways. It will teach my students to be more responsible by putting their own work away. It also gives them a sense of responsibility to check and see what work they might have missed if they were not here the day before. Also this can give my students a sense of ownership by having their own mailbox. It could also lead my students to learn how to have a "job" and take care of our given space.
