Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are loving our new school library as they come back for face-to-face instruction. Books line the walls and fill shelves with fiction series, graphic novels, and engaging nonfiction.
Our students may love math and science, but they get hooked on great books.
Reading is such a fundamental part of education that we work to incorporate it into every subject, multiple times a day.
Our diverse student body is far from many community resources. We're excited to be a positive, welcoming part of the neighborhood.
My Project
A big part of mental health and emotional wellness is being able to see yourself in your world. For my young bilingual students, that means diverse books automatically.
Having art supplies in the color of your skin makes learning more empowering.
Markers and paper in shades of skin colors are an easy way to show that I value students.
Tools for building language skill are also important for mental wellness. Kids know when they stand out from their peers and want to improve in ways that aren't embarrassing. Together, these project tools will help strengthen my students.
