Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This year is the third year we will be able to participate fully in a Model United Nations conference with the Connecticut World Affairs Council. My students have chosen to represent the Russian Federation or Romania during the conference and have worked hard to research their country and meet with members of the United Nations in NYC. Their next step is to write a position paper on their chosen topics, which range from chemical weapons, free and fair elections and clean energy. These are important topics with no easy solution. It will be their task to work together collaboratively with other students from around Connecticut, who represent other countries, to create resolutions on these topics.

I would like to provide each student with a lapel pin for the United Nations and for our their chosen country.

They will be able to look sharp at the conference and remind other schools who they are participating as. In addition, I am requesting folders and notepads to help my students hang on to important documents and write notes to other delegates during the conference. This way, they will look like one unified group.
