My Students

Do you believe literacy is important? So do my students! Music is a language, too, and we want to read it daily! This treble clef rug will help our kinesthetic kiddos to do just that, while providing them a cozy place to sit.

In this small town, rural school, we do our best to create a safe, fun, and engaging environment where kids can experience concepts instead of just reading about them in a book.

Although this is our ultimate goal, small town equals small funding. This small community does not offer a lot of musical exposure for our students, so most, if not all, of their music education will come from school.

My Project

The item we are requesting is a music rug. On the rug, there is a music staff and a treble clef surrounded by music symbols and instruments. This rug will enable more kinesthetic students to gain music literacy. Students can see, touch, stand on, and identify the notes of the treble clef. In addition, students will identify many other notes, symbols, and instruments as they find their spots and prepare for music each day.

Many adults in our area (as well as our nation) are not music literate.

Music is a part of every culture across the world and, yes, music is a language! It is a wonderful language and our students deserve every opportunity to not only "speak" it, but read and write it. This rug will provide ways for students to identify, touch, and stand on the notes of the treble clef.
