My Students

Both of my classes are part of a Spanish dual immersion program that our school participates in. These students all come from various diverse backgrounds and enjoy learning from one another. They are caring and patient with each other as they learn how to communicate in a different language. It has been an amazing experience to be their teacher and see how close they have grown as they lift and celebrate each other's accomplishments!

They are determined and courageous as they learn to speak another language.

Everyday they come into my class they are excited and ready to learn! They love new challenges and thrive at overcoming them together. I am thankful to have such a fun, creative and compassionate group of kids that are so enthusiastic to learn new things!

My Project

Having an organized classroom is essential for students learning. Seating rugs are a great way to help keep our classroom activities organized.

With predefined seating spots I can arrange the students where they will stay focused and learn the best according to their needs.

The outlined circles will allow students to recognize boundaries and give others the space that they need. Having a specific outlined space for lessons and activities provide consistency and order for the students.

Currently our class does not have a seating rug and it may take 5-10 minutes trying to get everyone situated into their spots. Having a seating rug would reduce the amount of time that we spend trying to get everyone seated in a spot that would benefit their learning. For example, I have students that need to sit in the front of the class to reduce distractions around them or because of visual restrictions and a seating rug is a great way to accommodate to their needs and create a safe and thriving learning environment.

While student teaching I was able to see first hand the benefit a seating rug had in my mentor teacher's classroom. Now, as a first year teacher, I want to be able to provide that for my students.

The rug that I have requested provides order to our routines while also creating a warm and fun environment in our classroom! I know that my students would benefit from it greatly but I can't do it without your support. Thank you!
