My students need these comprehension reading guides so that they can practice their comprehension skills during center time and small group instruction. These resources will help my students look for text evidence when answering questions.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The majority of my students come from different backgrounds and have a variation of learning styles. Some of these students have been displaced because of Hurricane Maria in their country. They have now entered my classroom needing these resources and, because of their first language being Spanish, it’s very hard for them to acquire the second language quickly. They attend a Title I school where our students are receiving free breakfast and lunch. Unfortunately, this means that many of our parents do not have the finances to provide the resources that the students need.
They are hard-working students and my new ones have been displaced from their homes because of the Hurricane Maria disaster.
As a teacher, it is my responsibility to provide them with materials they will need in my classroom. Even going through all these obstacles, they are coming to school excited and ready to learn.
My students need reading materials in order for them to learn the different reading strategies for informational and literature texts. They need to understand how to look for evidence in texts in orden to show comprehension. Please help me help them have a great learning experience by providing the materials needed.
My Project
These high-interest intervention reading folders will make a difference in my classrooms as students who are acquiring new reading strategies will be able to get small reading interventions. They will be able to read different texts but will also learn how to look for text evidence. They will help improve my students' lives tremendously, as learning these skills will help them when taking their state testing in the fourth grade. Having these reading guides and reading comprehension practice cards will help students prepare for any future connections they will have and the strategies they use when reading any texts. As a teacher, I will be able to help them succeed in all future endeavors when it comes to reading.
