Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This year my dream team is an awesome group of children. They're curious, full of wonder, funny, and thirsty to learn. The majority of them are on the spectrum, they have ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder). Some of them are nonverbal or have great difficulty expressing themselves. It is my intention to improve on their speech and language skills using the items I've requested of you.
Imagine not being able to communicate a simple phrase or being able to communicate poorly and not being understood.
This is what my babies face every day of their lives. The recording devices I've requested will enable them to hear and mimic the language. It will enable them to speak to me while hearing the use of the language. The cards I've chosen have sign language on them and I intend to teach them simple signs to accompany the recorded messages.
The other cards are for the ones that have difficulty speaking. They can use the cards to communicate and form sentences as they learn the language and its usage. In essence these items will give my children a voice with your donations, should you find it in your heart to help us.
