Our students are first time learners in a classroom setting. We encourage independence, foster creativity, and incorporate play based learning. Families are encouraged to be active participants in their children's learning. We practice this through take home activities and volunteering opportunities within the classroom and at home. Our children come from many different countries and battle financial hardships.
We have children who are ESL learners as well children with IEP's.
Our children and families struggle with incarcerated parents, substance abuse, and homelessness. Due to these struggles children come to our school for their only stability they receive.
We are requesting an egg incubator for the experience to use technology that helps life begin. With an incubator we will get the opportunity to be compassionate and care for a living animal. Our students will have hands on learning experience with a chickens life cycle. We will be able to create a graph and a count down to see how many more days until the chicks will hatch. What great meaningful math for such young learners.
Each morning, the children will be able to come look at the incubator with excitement and wonder.
After our chicks hatch we will be able to learn what they need to live. Just like us, we need food, water, and love.
