My students need a small drone to experiment creating basic science videos. They will write & describe virtual reality with Google Cardboard & use the cart for storage.

My Students

Several students have asked if we can get a drone & also explore virtual reality with Google Cardboard. Recently they worked with local architects to build bridges, including the engineering their own bridges! With the drone they can create videos of real bridges as well as their designs.

Our students range from 14-1 & many are learning English as a second language.

Young women can start at our school while they are expecting & continue after their baby is born. Students continue with their academic education as well as learning parenting skills, healthy baby strategies & community resources (including jobs & money management). Our students are eager to learn current, useful job skills especially new technologies that will help them find employment.

My Project

Students will use the drone to look at the micro world & the macro world; to photograph close up & far away for different perspectives; especially bridges!. They will also study the Google virtual reality apps & explain how their videos could be adapted for a virtual reality video. Finally they will write & discuss what are any values of these technologies for their lives & in the lives of their children.

Our students live within a hour of Silicon Valley.

They use multiple technologies on their phones. Yet they have little or no access to the technology of drones & virtual reality. This project will give them hands on lessons building skills, new technology vocabulary & ideas that they can apply to future learning.
