Help me give my students and opportunity to develop their awareness about self and others. The All About Me kit will help my students create and develop their artistic talents, skills, and knowledge about their heritage.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
It is always exciting to start a new school year! Teachers are excited about the new students, the students are excited about the new grade, the new teacher, and the new friends.
However, coming to a distance learning school everyday on time to learn is not an easy task for some students.
For some, it is a challenge due to their family situation, and in some cases lack of support. As a teacher, I wish they were coming to school everyday eager to learn and have new experiences, but that is not always the case.
Having the opportunity to provide my students with meaningful learning opportunities and having access to technology resources presents a challenge to me.
Sadly, our school does not have the budget or resources necessary to provide my students with more educational experiences in the classroom. Our school is a Title 1 school. We have 100% free lunch participation. We don't have good functional computers for the students to use during distance learning and many of my students' parents have some technology literacy limitations. All of these make learning hard for the students.
Despite that, I am planning to provide my students with the best quality education.
My Project
The materials that you will so generously donate to my project, will be used at home by my students to enhance their awareness about culture, inclusion, and diversity.
Learning about others and their differences, only helps us learn about how similar we are, and how even though we might look, act, dress, and eat different foods, we are basically the same.
The requested resources will help my students learn about their own culture, their ancestors, and the experiences and life situations that immigrants have endure. They will see themselves as an important part of their community and American culture.
