My Project

My students are not only learning important reading foundational skills in kindergarten . . . they are also learning how to LOVE reading! When they read, characters and adventures spring to life, and my students get to make connections between the stories, their own lives, and the world around them. A good classroom library is an essential part of any classroom, and these books will expose my students to different types of literature and help to get their imaginations working. Reading and listening to stories strengthens students' reading comprehension, while rhyming books can help students as they develop phonological awareness. We are also requesting a bookshelf and storage bins to keep these books organized and accessible.

Stories that take place in Hawaiʻi will teach my students about their island home and help them to appreciate all the things that make it so special.
