My Project

When my students see themselves in books with relatable themes, it’s magical. I see them grab the books, read together, talk about personal experiences.

Relatable pictures are the perfect way to introduce social emotional discussion topics.

We start most morning meetings with a picture book. This particular group of third graders are absolutely eating them up! Perhaps it’s partly because the pandemic hit halfway through their kindergarten year and they missed out on them a bunch, but these kiddos cannot get enough of books.

With your help, let’s continue to provide them with a library full of beautiful books in which they see themselves, their unique families, their culture and ethnicity, and everything that’s makes them who they truly are.
