My Students
In a room surrounded by animals and plants, my students enter our jungle of a classroom engulfed by science. The classroom is designed for exploration through research and learning, via hands-on activities. By the end of the year, I want my students to be at the forefront of a STEM education.
Each student is unique in his/her own way, which makes learning that much more special.
My students love learning about the ever-changing world of science, and are captured by the fact that every day brings new discoveries in science. The school is a welcoming environment, that encourages higher-level learning, while supporting the students at every step. The school houses over 1400 middle school students, who come from different ethnic backgrounds. In order to strengthen their learning experience, I want my students to utilize all the possible resources I can provide for them.
My Project
My students create amazing projects and pieces of work that should always be on display. With a camera, my students and I can begin to document the progression of their work. We can create story books throughout the year to have forever. We all need markers and bulletin board supplies to create magical art to display our magnificent work! These young scientists always come up with great work so it's time display them. With these basic school supplies, my students will be able to create science fair projects, 3D diagrams and artful pictures of all the scientific concepts we explore. The markers, post-its, paper and other decor items will help students create a diorama of the different layers of the atmosphere. During their creation, other students will be able to document pictures for them to see how their work has progressed throughout their years in middle school.
Displaying our work and printing out pictures of the process will allow us to reflect on what we have done.
These adolescents should remember the days learning science and with these supplies they will constantly have these artifacts! With a document camera, my students can model for other students how they completed their work. They can begin to take a leadership role in our classroom. So many of my students are always so eager to snap a picture with their phones, but exploring photography in our class will broaden their horizons to incorporating the arts into our classroom.
