Long Distance Literacy for My Littles

My Students

I am truly fortunate to work with my diverse and unique second-graders every day. My learners have come to be proud of their accomplishments and work through their weaknesses, despite the challenges they face.

Many of my students deal with socioeconomic disadvantages which have been magnified during distance learning.

They never let the obstacles they face stand in the way of working hard and achieving their goals. I want them to have the type of experience that every child deserves to have - one that will leave them with fond memories and successes to be proud of.

My Project

These resources will continue to enhance the print-rich classroom that I strive to create, even from afar. With distance learning, my classroom library has been lonely! I want to be able to provide access to non-fiction text to each of my students regardless of our distance. These resources have been chosen with my students in mind and the reading goals we have in place for each of them. Students will be able to access these materials both physically and digitally, which will enhance their reading experience.

With these magazines, my students will be able to access non-fiction text, from their homes, in a way that is engaging for them.

They will also be able to complete activities connected to the text that interest them. The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these resources will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading. My students have less access now than ever before, and this project will only help enrich their experiences with the printed word.
